Gaeta Giclee Print by Jim Gray
The port town of Gaeta has a long history. The USS Constitution "Old Ironsides" once docked here. For many years it served as home port for the flagship of the US Navy Sixth Fleet. When Jim and Fran visited here, it was not the military presence that they found remarkable so much as the culinary aspects of the town. Jim fondly remembers they were served the best meal of their entire trip in a little spot about a block from the docks. The waiters seemed to adopt this American artist, his bride and their travel companions, Jack and Jerri, and they took special pride in bringing course after course of every conceivable delicacy that the local fishermen had provided.
